starbucks pay their workers $1 a day for growing ethiopian coffee, they somehow feel like they are doing a benefit to these poor farmers by buying their coffee, the truth is there is a demand for the coffee and by fair trade standards STARBUCKS have a duty to pay the farmers 45% of the price of the coffee they charge in their stores. Starbucks pays 45% to jamaican blue mountain coffee growers per pack that is sold in their stores but the ethiopian coffee growers get only 5% this is discrimination and unfair. Starbucks need pay up to the ethiopian farmers its their right!

I agree. That is completely unfair, and those people could really use the money.

Their only Fair Trade coffee is the Shade Grown Mexico coffee they have.

Taken from their website: Starbucks and Conservation International We formed a partnership with Conservation International (CI) in 1998 to encourage environmentally sound coffee-growing practices and to improve farmer livelihoods. The success of our first joint project in Chiapas, Mexico is serving as a model for new and future projects.

It's just capitalism at work. If the Ethiopian coffee growers wanted to charge more, they could. They're allowed to decide the price at which they are willing to sell. It goes like this:

My price is $10 per day.

Or some other number.....the point is that the people that you are claiming are discriminated against can set their own price.

Also....I question the accuracy of your facts. Could you provide a reference that backs up your claims, please?

Starbucks is an evil corporation. Much like WalMart, these companies contribute more to the downfall of civilization than any other force.
