I've had stress/depression/anxieties for a while. I was given 5htp and my stress and anxieties have gone way down. But I still feel sluggish, which is a good supplement I can take for that.
thanks

Vitamin B12 is good for energy.

Most important here is to figure out the root cause of your fatigue, and that may help guide you to which supplement(s) will work best for you. B's are a good start because stress severely depletes most of your B's (not just B12.) If your fingers start to go numb, cut back on how much B vitamins you're taking.

Also, you have to be careful with supplements. Many people should avoid Ginseng, especially those with heart problems.

DHEA is a good adrenal supplement and may help your fatigue, but it also has side effects to watch for, even though it's considered safe.

CoQ10 is an excellent anti-oxidant that will support your body while it heals.

Ginkgo will help your "mental fog" while you're tired.

A good multi-vitamin and a mineral supplement will also help.

Murray's Pill Book Guide To Natural Medicines lists, for fatigue: Ginseng Magnesium
Reishi Schisandra
Tyrosine Siberian ginseng
A good multiple vitamin-mineral would not hurt. Also look into: DMG, CoQ10, and Creatine.
Dr Atkins' Super Energy Diet has a lot to recommend too.
Good luck.

The pills you take make you feel sluggish. The best way to get over both the sluggish feeling and anxieties is to work out. Exercise stimulates the feel good chemicals in your body, and muscle burns more calories (in case you wanted to know)

This is part of the response I've just given to another question ...

An excellent doctor once told me about how he used to work in a hospital's psychiatric ward with patients suffering from depression. Every morning they would try and encourage the patients to go with them to the gym. The ones who agreed to exercise with them got better and were out of hospital quickly. When you exercise, you release happy endorphines.

....

Whether you feel like it or not, if you want to help yourself, you have to force yourself to do some exercise. It will make you happier and give you more energy.

My mom is a nutritionist and gave me B-12 for the same thing. Take a multi vitamin daily plus a B-12 tablet. It will give you energy and hopefully help curb your depression a bit. I suffer from depression. It comes and goes. I have found that working out and taking vitamins helps a lot.

Good luck girl!

In my opinion, exercise can be one of the best things to give you energy. It gets your blood and endorphins flowing and also makes you feel better, not to mention is great for reducing stress. I always feel better (more energized and relaxed) after I work out even through to the next day.

YOU NEED TO CONSUME HEALTHY FOOD, LOTS OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. THE B VITAMINS BRING YOU MORE ENERGY, GINSENG TOO. IT HELPS TO ASK A PHARMACIST FOR A HEALTHY HERBAL SUPPLEMENT TOO. I HAVE ASKED, AND FOUND THEY ARE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SUGGEST SOMETHING HELPFUL FOR YOUR SITUATION. ALSO, IT IS IMPORTANT TO GET AT LEAST 6 TO 8 HOURS OF SLEEP EACH DAY. LOTS OF FRESH AIR. DO SOMETHING YOU LOVE. REMIND YOURSELF TO LOVE YOURSELF AS WELL. YOU MUST FIND SOMETHING POSITIVE TO DO. SOMETHING YOU ARE GOOD AT, ENJOY, OR JUST LIKE. POSITIVE BREEDS/CREATES POSITIVE. NEGATIVE BREEDS/CREATES NEGATIVITY. OUR BODIES WORK THE SAME AS WELL. HAVE YOUR IRON LEVEL CHECKED OUT TO. ANEMIA CAN CAUSE SLUGGISHNESS, BUT FROM WHAT YOU'VE SAID... IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU JUST FEEL DOWN IN THE DUMPS. I FEEL IT MAY BE MORE OF THE WAY YOUR MIND IS FEELING, NOT SO MUCH YOUR BODY. HEAL THE MIND, AND THE BODY WILL FOLLOW. PRAY...IT HELPS TOO! FIND ONE THING TO SMILE ABOUT EACH DAY IF THAT'S WHAT IT TAKES. BABY STEPS....THAN BIGGER ONES, AND SO ON. EVERY HUMAN BEING DESERVES TO BE HAPPY, THAT INCLUDES YOU! WALK... YOU KNOW IT'S BEEN PROVEN THAT EXERCISE BRINGS ENERGY! TAKE A REVIVING SHOWER AFTER THE WALK. JUST FIND A WAY TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOU! GOOD LUCK!
