Nope, that's why they have Sunday school.

i would guess within the next 300 years 1/2 of all religions will die out. Once science starts to develop, the human psyche automatically changes. So like for now, we might need religions to...you know keep people confused a bit. In time you can change it. I can tell you all religions are not 100% percent accurate, so folks, do not take it all into consideration. I've heard this pharse before "humans are not perfect" and humans wrote all the religions, why is that any different? Anyways, i think a new religion will develop, one called knowledgism. I am a follower, are you? So teaching it in public schools won't change anything but lead to a future generation full of brain-washed christians...not so much different from our present society.

As an Evangelical Christian, I don't think that the Government should teach Christianity in a public school. They'd mess things up badly. But I would like to see parents have an option of sending their children to the school of their choice, including private religious schools, and having the tax revenues that they pay into their local tax coffers help pay for it.
Give the parents some choice.
I homeschool my children, so I teach the about Christ constantly, but I still pay my tax revenues so that other kids can go to public school. (I get to pay twice. Yippie!)
You know.. now that I think about it, they could teach religion in public schools by having pastoral staff VOLUNTEER to do it. If you want to go to Bible class, you can if a pastor is available to teach it. Learn about the Koran, sure, if someone is available to teach it... and participation in the class would require a parents signature.
The problem with school is that they have taken God out completely in an attempt to not offend anyone. But you cannot remove God from the classroom because God created everything. So suddenly, most of what is being taught, makes no sense. Without God, it becomes hard to answer the "WHY" questions. What, when, who and where are easy. You need God to understand Why.
So I'll just keep homeschooling and I recommend other concerned parents consider doing the same.

I believe that christianity should NOT be taught in public school, because there are those occasional muslim, jewish, etc students who shouldn't be influenced by another's religion. It's like politics: you dont talk about it in school (or your preference whether liberal or conservative) because you don't want to sway someone's thoughts unless they are going to look in on it on their own. There are all of these hours outside of school for a child or student to study religion if it interests them, why put others in an uncomfortable situation while when they are at home, they have different beliefs and values. Just because christianity is dominant, preaching to children unless they are willingly at church, bible study, etc is wrong to me. I am in no way against religion, but there are plenty of times for that to be taught and studied.

Depends on the context, only if youre going to include other religions, and teach it as that. But really, matters of faith should be up to parents to teach.
AN original question would be nice. This one's been asked a million times today. Moron.

NO. If you want your child taught religion then you need to send your child to church or a christian school. But that is just my opinion. :O)

Yes. We are a nation based on Christianity. If we went to foreign countries we would have to learn their religions and abide by them.
