I had / have runner's knee for a while (about a month) and I recieved orthotics and now it doesn't hurt. I thought it had gone away but when I tried to kneel I notived that the knee cap is still raised and that I wan't able to position it correctly. Is this a sign that it is heeling? Or that my body just adjusted to the pain?

It is hard to answer this question without examining the knee and actually seeing what you mean by your knee cap being raised and that you are unable to position it correctly.

Sounds promising that the pain is going away, though. But one would wonder if you ever got radiographs or even an MRI to make sure you didn't damage the menisci, ligaments, etc.

I would go back to your doctor and discuss this further. If pain returns or there are still problems, I am sure your physician will get an MRI...to see if something else needs to be done.

Hopefully, this answer helped some, though...
