D *and* C = Dilation and Curettage. Dilation and Curettage is a minor surgical procedure used to remove tissue from the uterus. You can get detailed info on every step of the procedure and how to prepare before and after at:

It is called a D&C, it stands for dialation and cutterage. This is a procedure where the doctor puts a women under anastesia and manually dilates her cervix with instruments. This usually common after a miscarriage to remove the fetus. It can also be used to treat endometriosis or any surgery on the cervix. Usually it is done with a Laporoscopy to check the rest of the pelvic organs. It is usually customary to wait 6 weeks until intercourse is resumed. There will be cramping and bleeding for about two to three weeks or longer. Your body needs this time to heal. This is very important. If you do not wait it could cause scar tissue and may cause problems in labor if you want to have children. Hope this helps. Good luck and take care of yourself.

It's a "dilation and curettage, " a procedure in which the surgeon scrapes the sides of the uterus, commonly performed due to abnormal bleeding (so that the tissue can go to the lab for analysis), or following miscarriage or abortion in cases where the uterus fails to fully empty its content.

Do not confuse it with a D and E (dilation and evacuation) which is performed as a way of causing abortion. The attached fetus is removed by the surgery, in the second three months of pregnancy.

Always talk to a doctor for these kinds of questions, yahoo answers isn't really a licensed site staffed by doctors. ! As for sexual activity, again, ask a doctor.

I hope that I have answered your questions fully. If so, please rate it.

I thought you were talking about the Democratic National Convention.-- It's called Dilation and Curettage. It is a minor procedure where the opening to the uterus, is carefully opened. Then, a small spoon-like instrument is inserted and a gentle scraping is undertaken.

A DNC is basically an abortion done at a hospital. For whatever reason, you have had a miscarriage or whatever, the hospital basically does the same thing as an abortion. They are cleaning out everything that is in your uterus. The general rule is 6 weeks because you could get an infection on your cervix from them going in there and doing what they did.
