I believe you have to bring a carseat if you are flying with an infant or a toddler. I'm not positive on that, but I've heard that somewhere before. I don't think you'd have to prove she was your child unless you were traveling internationally. I'm also not certain on that either. Just call the airline and see what they say about it. Good luck and have a safe trip.

In July I flew with my daughter who was 2 months old from NY to CA and back. I took her birth certificate just in case, but they dont even ask for it. All the airline wants to know is that there will be an infant on lap. Theres no tickets or anything that she needs they do it just for a head count. So if you havent notified the airline yet then its best to do that now. Also a word of advice I brought my stroller and car seat with us. They put the car seat under the plane but let me bring the stroller on the plane because of the layover. Just tell them you want to take it on board with you. It helps you get through the security line faster as well!

I flew with my seven month old on my lap last year and didn't show any paperwork. I didn't even think of it; thank goodness they didn't ask! The only information about birth certificates I've found in researching for a trip in December, is that you need one if you have a child near the age of two. Kids two and over can't sit on your lap; they need their own seats, so if your child is approaching that age you need to prove he or she is still under two. Other than that it shouldn't be necessary, although you might want to call or email the airline just to make sure.

I am in the exact same situation as you, My baby will be 2 and a half mos and were leaving on November 10th......I called the airline and they said:

1) You dont need a car seat but if you want to bring one, you will have to buy her a seat.....Yes She can sit in your lap, I would recomend a snuggli, thats what I'll be using

2) You need to call the airlins so that they can put her name on your ticket.....There's no extra charge they just do that so somebody cant just grab someones kid, jump on the plane and head to mexico

3) You dont need her I D or ssc

I hope I could be of help to you, good luck on your trip

p.s. Make sure she's drinking milk when the plane takes off and lands so her ears are less likely to pop

You have nothing to prove the child is yours? What are you waiting for? Get a birth certificate asap and have footprints taken to keep for your files. I would also check with the airline, some do not allow for children on laps anymore. Don't leave this till the last minute or you may find your trip ruined.

You will want to check the airlines website to find out what you need to bring with you to prove she is yours. I flew Southwest in August and they required a county issued birth certificate for any children under the age of 2. When you check your bags in they will include a n additional slip to prove the child should board with you. If you only have 1 seat ticket they will know you are holding her the whole time.

some states ask to see a birth cert. so i would call the airlines and get that info... also make sure you bring somthing for her to suck on like a nuk or bottle for her ears. you need to keep her jaw moving . Yes the airlines ticket has to say infant on lap cause the airlines needs to know about all passengers. hope this helps

Call the air lines to get the CORRECT information before it is to late and you find out that you need something you don't have. Do it now, don't wait, Nov. 2 is right around the corner.

Hope you and baby have a safe trip.

I don't believe so - I think she is simply a very noisy "carry on". Make sure you have something for her to suck on during takeoff and landing, and good luck!
