I agree, only regular strength cough medicine. When in doubt ask the Dr. I was always calling and leaving messages for the Dr's office to call me back, mostly for CONSTIPATION though.

Here is a side note...when I was nursing my son I took something for my runny nose. Well it cleared my runny nose, and lowered my milk supply for 2 days too. Put that in your information bank for later.

I'm not sure if much is safe at that stage of pregnancy. I had walking pneumonia when I was fairly far along (5 months or so), and I used codeine cough syrup (by prescription, obviously), and I believe I took Benadryl, not sudafed. Ask your doctor before your wife takes anything. I think I also took amoxicillin at like 10 weeks, too.

Gynos' would always recommend Tylenol - not more then 8 a day. Tylenol does not penetrate the placenta and is safe for pregnant woment.

Ask you pharmacist about the tylenol cold medicin though, but she should be able to take regular extra strength tylenol

I just had a pretty bad cold...my dr said one shouldn't take anything for it....if she gets fever or headache just regular tylenol, but nothing really to help with the cold.

there really isn't anything to safe to take for a cold over the counter during your wife's pregancy but ask your wife's doctor and he could recommend what to take and may give her a prescription.

Ask your local pharmacist, its quicker and sometimes cheaper to get advice and the correct medication.
I did this during my pregnancy and since have had a happy bouncing baby boy!!! I wish you both well!!!
