I've been taking the same pills for a year and a half. This is the first time it has happened, and I am not supposed to be on my period. It isn't regular, it happens from time to time.

HI,
It sounds like you need to change BC pills. They come in different strengths. And it sounds like this is not the one for you. Call the Doc and ask for an appointment and he/she will help you. Or go to your county health department and most of the time it's free. Hope this helps.

That is normal when taking birth control pills. It could be that this month your body produced more hormones than the pills were capable of handling. And stress always effects the body in one way or another and that could also be the cause. If it continues or gets any worse, though, you might think about seeing your doctor and maybe get stronger pills.

I've been on my tyoe of birth control for 3 years and the same thing happens to me when I get stressed out or depressed. Just keep taking the pills regularly, it's normal. If you're worried then go see your doctor.

I would talk to you doctor, you may need a different strength of pill. Also, make sure you take the pills at about the same time each day, that will keep your hormone levels steady.

This is fairly common. I work in family planning, so we see this sometimes. It can be attributed to stress and a fluctuation in hormone levels. But it can also be attritubed to weight loss or gain, skipping pills and doubling up, STDs. If it happens again, or more often than you like, ask for a new pill. It might not have enough hormone in it to keep your lining from breaking up (spotting/early period.)

No. Bleeding is not an effect of stress. It could be that you have cysts (sometimes caused by stress) that have ruptured, causing the bleeding. It may just be that your cycle and hormones are all off, but I strongly recommend going to the doctor. It could be very serious as STD's or cancer to hormone imbalance. Get checked out and best of luck to you!

The same thing happened to me. It was alarming at first, but after talking to my doctor she said it happened more often than I thought. The body does such wierd things! She said sometimes your body gets used to the same pill. Maybe ask your doctor to try a different pill.
