You can get one CD-ROM drive which has USB connector. Go ask the IT stores, I'm sure they have.

As far as there being "no space" I'm assuming whoever advised you meant there were no empty drive slots. That might not be a problem if you could get a working USB port, since they do make (slow) CD-ROM drives that connect to the USB port (see example in link below).

But your first problem appears to be that there is no OS at all on your laptop. If there is no OS, it can't see the USB port or the drive. Perhaps there is some way to boot from a floppy, then plug in the drive, then install the OS. But I'd need a lot more detailed information to even try to offer advice on that.

You could go back to your friend and show them this note and ask if that helps. The only other option I can see is to take your laptop to your local computer store and ask their advice.

Hope that helps.

Normally if a laptop does not have a CD Rom drive it in, it is able to use a CD rom drive attached by a USB cable. Check with any computer or electronic store and they will have one. But the Window CD in the USB drive and boot the computer. Should install Windows from there.

You got ripped off. Go buy a cd-rom drive and install it or have a friend install it for you. Also you better hope to god it has a hard drive inside of it.
