why is everyone talking about child molestation or statutory rape?? . . yeah, it's the law and maybe he should have kept his pants up, but HELLO PEOPLE!!! . . it's not hard to tell that there was a MUTUAL decision to have sex . . "rape" is not MUTUAL . . maybe back in the day, a 13 year old didn't have the capabilities to make decisions knowing the consequences, but this is 2006 and kids are growing up much more faster than they used to . . by 13, kids know what sex is and they know that having sex can make you pregnant . . . they know because they've seen it happen to mommy, auntie, big sisters, and cousins . . . they're not stupid . . . and anyway, if they do punish the boy, the girl should get punished, too . . why isn't anyone saying that SHE should have kept HER pants up?!! . . I've seen it happen too often where the guy gets in trouble, but the girl gets nothing but a slap on the wrist . . and anyway, if you want to punish somebody, punish the d a m n parents . . where were they when she was getting knocked up??!?
anyway, back to the question at hand . . the only way I think that you'd be able to get married is if your parents give you permission to . . and the guy would become your legal guardian, but you'd have to research the laws of your state to know for sure . . . also, depending on what state you live in, he might not get in trouble if you get married before any charges are brought against him . . .

Even in Utah you must be at least 18 or have parental consent. The 18 year old will only get into trouble if the 13 year old parents want to press charges. Good luck this sounds like a sticky situation.

The parents of the 13 year old need to file charges against the 18 year old because that's statutory rape. The age of consent in any state isn't as low as 13.
He wouldn't have been in any trouble if he'd kept his pants zipped up and got permission from all parents & the courts to be married FIRST. Now, he'll be going to jail (I hope).

A 13-yr. old getting married is ridiculous - baby or not! No child should be raising another child - there is too much growing up to do. The emotional maturity is not there yet. I don't know what to say about the 18 yr. old but that's illegal and if they are boyfriend/girlfriend, regardless, it's not in her best interests. I say put that baby up for adoption; then educate her and what is appropriate at her age - things like her education, sports, hobbies and don't worry about guys yet!

you'd need parent's permission to get married, unless you elope and only get a church wedding (not a legal wedding), though that could be bad too.
it's not getting married that would get anyone in trouble, of course it may bring attention to the fact that, yeah, the law was broken there, and it's a bad thing to get sent up on. On the other hand, it seems like that doesn't really get prosecuted that often in these cases, although the young age of the girl is really bad.
Oh, and at 13, having a baby is probably dangerous.

Different states have different laws, but in some if the girl is pregnant then she can get married to the father of the baby and does not need anybodys consent. In others she just needs a parents consent. It all depends on the state... so try to research the different laws to find out which states have which laws. As, far as him getting in trouble, with parent consent I personally don't think he would...I guess that all depends on the state too. As long as they get married then I don't see him getting in trouble, but I'm not sure.

Check your state laws. In California it is illegal to have sex with anyone under 16. If you are 13 and pregnant, you will be placed in a New Alternatives school that caters to pregnant teens. Your boyfriend will however have to state his case to a judge no matter what and will most likely get sent to jail. However, if your parents consent to this relationship (and they are stupid if they do), they will need to either: emancipate you, make you a ward of the state, or sign away their rights as parents to your boyfriend and then he in a sense becomes your guardian. I know this because I work with girls that age that get pregnant and have no one. Basically the best advice... YOU SHOULD NOT GET MARRIED AT 13 AND DEFINITELY SHOULD NOT BE HAVING SEX!

He is in trouble if the law finds out about it. With parental consent they can get married, but he still broke the law. He can still do time for sleeping with a minor. Happened in Kansas or Nebraska about a year ago. They sent that man to jail even though he married the girl with parental consent.
