What would you suggest? Any attempts to sit down and try to discuss house rules are unsuccessful. The two others are careless in their approach; for example...leaving the door unlocked at nigh; inviting boorish houseguests that make a mess; not assuming their share of clean up duties; eating other's groceries and not replacing them. I know you will say...kick them out...but the lease is in all 4 names. You will say....Tell them to smarten up...but they either are resentful when reminded....refuse to sit down and set guidelines....or are just vague...tune out...and do as they please.

Unfortunately, Amanda, sometimes it is not possible to know what people will be like to live with until you live with them.

There is nothing you can do to make a bad roommate straighten up. I have found that there are two people you can live with, a complete stranger or a best friend (that you already know everything about). The complete stranger and you will learn about each other through your routines and how you live. The best friend you know perfectly you will already know their kinks and quirks. If it is just a friend or someone you know... you will find things out that you never knew before... and cannot live with.
I know I digressed a little, to solve your problem I have not a lot of help. You can try breaking lease which may work. Is the rent for the whole space, or for each individual room? Basically, could you break lease and not effect the others paying rent? If so, you may try that and let the landlord find a person to replace you. If not, try finding someone to take your place (sublet).
The other option is to withdraw. I had a house I lived in with a bunch of people. The others would leave the kitchen so disgusting I could not even bring myself to go in there. Luckily I had a small refridge and microwave of my own in storage. I just brought them in my room, and boycotted the kitchen. If you can confine your things to your personal space, you can basically write yourself off from the public area except when you have go. That is really your only option. You think they are slobs, they think you are a pest. Neither is going to convience the other they are wrong. Good luck

evict them and replace them That you can do. Put them the fu*k out and get replacement roommates now i say.
Forget the other stuff but if they aren't pulling their weight in the cost of living you don't need them anyway. You and the other roomy save your money and prepare to pay the rent yourselves for at least a month hopefully you'll get lucky and replace them with more mature responsible roomies. good luck
PS you can evict a room mate for non payment of rent legally. If you don't know where to file ask your landlord. oh and by all means let the landlord know what is going on so that there won't be any surprises.

Write a big sign, and put on it all of the rules of the house, The first one is respect! Buy a small refrigerator for your room! Make your room a home with out them, and always lock your door! If it is impossible to get through to them, see if you can get someone else to take over you part of the lease.

Give them a quit or straighten up notice. Tell them they have 3 days to get their act together or else you will be putting a notice in the paper for another roommate. IF that does not work.. contact the owners and tell them what the situation is and you have tried all you can and for your safety and peace of mind they have to go...
Your roommates are very rude and inconsiderate. They need a reality check.

Been there - done that......Talk to your landlord and see if there is anyway you can get your name off the lease. You may have to pay a fine, but if you want out it may be the only way.
