Normal Windows XP OS, for a gift for my brother. He bought some cheapo one a while back an it doesn't work on the Vaio or his Alienware laptop. Does CS require anything special?

No, not really. If you're a casual gamer, then a casual one will be fine. Of course, if you have a serious gamer on your hands, then you might want to invest in one of the better ones, which you can find from makers like Plantronics, Logitech, or Sennheiser.

Try the new Motorola it is great for gaming, blocks out background noises and has better sound.. I bought one a while back for PS2 and I use it for PC now! It is a USB

no plantronics is the best brand of headset u can play to use for online gameing but there are kind of on the expensive side

Well i have always used the PS2 headset and i would swear by them there GRreat.. Can use them for the comp or ps what more do you need
