yes you do have to a hairnet when you are working around food to cover all of your hair.

You should really call your local Health Department to find out the rules on hairnets. Years ago, wearing a hairnet, when working around food, was mandatory. Today - I just don't know. I see tons of people (around food) not wearing them. With all the strange stuff in food anymore - I'd rather see the return of hairnets. I just hate it when I bite into something and end up with a hair in my mouth.
I'd also like to see a ruling on people with piercings working with food. I don't care how clean a piercing is - to me it's just not right. I've walked out of eating establishments after seeing someone handling food with visible piercings and I will not return.

When i worked in the fast food industry in 95 you didn't need to wear a hairnet u just had to put your hair up in a ponytail if it was too long

so the answer is no you don't have to but if the owner of the food establishment requires you to yes you have to put all your hair in the hair net

I don't think anyone would appreciate hair in their food. People that work around food and have long hair must wear a hair net,
