Well everything kinda got complicated in the world and society became so obsessed with everything else - mainly money, and everything just got too complicated for people to truley appreciate the simple things in life. But of course my favourite band is the Beatels and I LOVE Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry, but that may just be me..

Music evolves and progresses, it really depends on your definition of 'good bands', but since you site the incomparable Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones, here are a few bands you should check out and the albums I would reccomend.
1. The White Stripes "Elephant"-all the black magic blues and wailing vocals of Robert Plant with the immediacy of 60s garage rock.
2. System of a Down "Toxicity"- Apocalyptic like Zep, skillful arrangements, powerful vocals, great riffs.
3. The Strokes "Is This It" or "First Impressions of Earth"- captures the sleaziness and the riffs of the stones with a modern edge.
4. Anything Nirvana- the best rock band since Zeppelin.

It's futile to compare today's music scene to that of the 70's and 60's. There are so many different genres and sub-genres out there, which has convoluted the main stream. There are great bands out there; they just aren't getting the attention they deserve. Part of the blame can go to the labels and the radio stations, but a lot of the blame should go to the consumers for buying crap like 50 cent, Paris Hilton, and Fergie. In this day and age it takes a lot more work and dedication to find the good bands.

Real rock died when grunge came into the picture. All the bands now sound the same.Even kids today are listening to classic rock.Of course, given the lack of choices in music today,do you blame them.Rap should have died a long time ago,hip hop is bad disco and country is pop with a twang.

Yeah, dude. I'm surrounded by good music every day all day. Why? Because I don't listen to the radio or watch mtv. Why are you afraid of...

Umphrey's McGee
Robert Randolph and the Family Band
moe.
RAQ
Widespread Panic

I promise you won't turn into everything you've always hated if you give them a shot. And, who knows, you might actually like it! Here's a good place to start:

Because youth tends to rule the music industry as they spend the most amount of dollars. Today's youth are obsessed with style over substance. It does not matter if you have any talent just so long as you look good doing it.

You just have to look a little harder. There were a lot of suck bands back then, too. Most of them have been forgotten, leaving the good ones.
