I guess it comes down to trade offs. A nice big house comes with work, but then you already know that. In a community you loose the space but you may gain new freindships, alot less maintaining a yard and such.....and there is always someone close by to watch you place when you take your wife on that cruise!! :o)

i don't know. why should you? is the home less in the community so that you can pocket some of your asset? is it small too so there isn't so much empty room and space to clean? Is it closer or farther from your family whichever you prefer? Do you both just need a change? could be any or all. if none why move?

Convenience and the opportunity to get rid of 25 years of junk and start living a life outside of the huge house.

Besides most of those communities have a low maintence lifestyle with fun for you close to home.

I don't know why you're asking us since we don't know what the 55+ community offers. I'd suggest you sit down and write out the pros and cons of living at both locations and base your decision on what is important to you.
