You're lucky, Ohio makes some of the very best bricks in all North America, super Belden, and Redland bricks.
Just STONE itself (material only):
Six to ten dollars per square foot for natural stone, or 4 to 7 dollars per square foot for manufactured stone, depending on the quantity purchased and which kind of stone. Plus some cost for the cement and sand, about $4 - 4.50 per square foot.
Brick costs depend largely on :
- which brick selection,
- of course how many bricks (enough for a whole house ? or just to fix a chimney?)
- size of the brick (how many bricks per square foot)
BRICK (material only) costs can range from $ 2.75 to $ 6 per square foot for house-load quantities, $4 to $7 for smaller orders.
All plus the price of the cement and sand, about $4 - $4.50 per square foot.
These are costs in Canadian dollars, so MAYBE multiply by 0,9 but also, the supply and demand effects may be different there than here. Here there is high demand.
Installation costs may be calculated differently amongst contractors. Some may include the costs of cement and brickties into their installation costs, some may keep it separate. Make sure you find out what is included or not included in any installation cost they quote.
I've heard it many times. in the states installers charge by the square foot. I don't know what they charge there, to install.
Here, installers charge by the square foot only for stone, but per brick for installing brick. Its about $ 1.10 to 1.30 per brick in Canada. Here the size of the brick really affects the cost to install, and so we make large bricks "max size" requiring 3.9 bricks per square foot, but we also sell bricks made in Ohio, usually "modular size 6.86 bricks per square foot" and "engineer size" 5.76 bricks per square foot. In the States, I've heard it said they simply charge a flat rate per square foot, regardless of the size of the bricks.
Stone installers charge between $18 or 20 and $30 per square foot. Canadian dollars, and Canadian dollars are getting more valuable again, almost the same like US dollars.
Don't bother the manufacturers, they won't deal with 'public' or with contactors; they'll only deal through distributors and subdivision-builders who buy millions of bricks per year.
Contact your local brick vendor(s), mention roughly how many square feet the size of your project / so, the quantity of materials you're talking about, and they can tell you prices there.
Good luck with your further research.
