Some people like the Mercury name instead of Ford. Yes they would all look the same. 50 Years ago they would have look total different. It cost less to use the same parts on cars then haveing useing different parts.

Some people answered your question one was its not just Ford and Mercury they all do it so don't point the finger just at Ford and the other point is . And the other point was that they figured out it makes money to use the same stuff to build several different makes. And one last point of my own is this country loves its cars and other material items we are not happy with just one or two choices in life we want many hundred of choices so that's what the auto manufacturers did was made as many as they could and no matter what they make someone buys it.

A simple personal anecdote will suffice to answer you question. I drive a Mercury Mountaineer. I purchased it used from a wide variety of options. I only drive Ford vehicles so it was Ford, Lincoln or Mercury. So when I was purchasing a vehicle I wanted something nicer and slightly more luxurious than a Ford, but I could not afford a Lincoln. So I bought a Mercury, plus the ***** hauls and it makes an adequet sleeper car.

Ford and Mercury are the same company...Mercury is the high end part of the company. The Mercury version of any Ford is more expensive...kinda like Chevy and GM or Toyota and Lexus.

I don't know where you can buy it, but we've had good luck finding obscure parts on ebay. If its not there when you look, look again in a few days, and it may be. Sorry I can't help more and good luck finding that part. Also, you could go to the library and find the factory repair book, you know, the one they send to the ford dealership mechanics. It may have a part number so you can find where to order it more easily.

Yes they are the same and that is why they are in deep crap! There is only 1 car company that doesn't share platforms BMW. All others are the same crap with different badges.
