I know this is a long answer and it is doubtful that most will read it because it contains actual facts backed up with sources that show the evolution of the evil Osama bin Ladin has perpetrated against the US.

You are very wrong in your ascertation that the US supported Osama bin Ladin. He was against all US involvement concerning what he considered Muslim land or peoples. Even in College he was part of what is referred to as the Muslim Brotherhood. The CIA gave funding and training the the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan. bin Ladin was not a part of this. He hates involvement of Saudi Arabia with the infidels. Bin Ladin wanted no monies from the infidels. He wanted Suadi Arabia to kick them out of the birth country of Mohammed. He was and is a very wealthy man from a very wealthy family and he funded his own camps and training in Afghanistan.

He was considered an enemy's enemy but never a true ally. Never was he considered a friend or a product of the CIA. According to bin Laden and American intelligence sources, there was no direct contact between them.

He is so radical and violent; with such extreme convictions that he is no longer welcome in his home country.

Yes. 9/11 happened during the 8th month of Pres. Bush's presidency. According to US intelligence, the explosion of a bomb in a hotel in Aden, Yemen, on December 29, 1992, is considered the first terrorist attack involving bin Laden, who was considered one of the most influential men in Yemen. The two Yemeni Muslim militants arrested later had been trained in Afghanistan. In 1993, the World Trade Center was bombed by Muslim militants. Again, bin Laden was considered one of the men behind the terrorist attack.
Osama bin Laden was accused in 1993 of trying to obtain components of nuclear weapons and begining to work with Sudan's NIF to develop chemical weapons.
In 1995, Ramzi Yousef, the key figure behind the World Trade Center bombing, was captured in Pakistan and extradited to the United States. American investigators believe him to be financially linked to bin Laden.
In 1996, Pres. Clinton signed paperwork to capture/destroy bin Ladin and a Grand Jury began deliberations to indite bin Ladin for the bombings in New York. In February 1998, Osama bin Laden issued a joint declaration with the Islamic Group, Al Jihad, the Jihad Movement in Bangladesh and the "Jamaat ul Ulema e Pakistan" under the banner of the "World Islamic Front". It stated that Muslims should kill Americans (including civilians) anywhere in the world. Osama bin Laden called it a "fatwa" (a religious order issued by Islamic priests).
On August 7, 1998, two bombs exploded simultaneously at the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. In Kenya, 213 people died and in Tanzania 11 were killed. According to Newsweek, U.S. intelligence intercepted a mobile phone conversation between two of bin Laden's lieutenants that implicated them in the embassy bombings. You might pay attention to the fact that all this and much more occurred on Pres. Clinton's watch.

I don't think that 911 would have been prevented if someone else were elected. On 9-12, I was a little relieved that Bush had won the election and there might be an appropriate response to the largest attack against Americans on our own soil.

Then I was disappointed that the only responses to 9-11 Bush found approriate involved either dispensing with civil liberties and human rights or giving no-bid contracts to military and security contractors. The efforts on hunting down the terrorists and securing the homeland (despite creating a new Cabinet postion for the purpose) have been utterly inadequate, due to the other distractions the US has involved itself with.

While I am very disappointed with Bush's response to 9-11, I'm not sure anyone else could have done enough to make the nation feel safe again.

Actually, your Islamic based terrorist organizations do not care who the President is. There were several terrorist attacks on the US Military, Embassies, and places where Americans gathered through out the world. 9-11 was in the planning stages at least 5 years before Bush became President. The Al-Qaida has said that they oppose us and want to destroy us because of their perception that we are corrupting Islam. Another reason, is our support of the Nation of Israel.

The attack would have happened anyway. Osama binLaden was trained by the U.S. and he was given over to the U.S. under Clinton's admin, but Billiary didn't have whatever it takes to recognize evil so binLaden was left free.
If Mr Bush had not been president, chances are a lib would have been and we would have sat around wondering how the enemy 'feels' while said enemy dropped airliners and bombs on the rest of our country.

Osama and his followers were planning 9/11 long before George W. Bush was ever president - probably when Clinton was president.

Of course it would have. Why can't people understand that planning an operation of that scale took years to do. They would have to gather the resources, gather the crew, get them all trained in flight operations and flight time, and then they could select the date.

I guarantee that operation was in the planning stages in the late 90's, when Bill was in office. If 'W' wasn't in there, it still would have happened. We just might not have invaded Afghanistan and Iraq if someone else was in office.

Yes. A terrorist attack on US soil was bound to happen. Remember the first attempt to blow up the WTC? Terrorist attacks on US troops happened when a democrat was in the White House. They don't hate the president. They hate Western culture and non-muslims. When they attack they want to hurt us all. They are not going to pick and choose and leave those pacifists and liberals out of it. And not just Americans. Remember the attacks in London, Spain and the thwarted ones in Italy and Canada? Your hatred of Bush has made it impossible to see who the enemy really is.

We supported Iraq at a time when IRan was considered a greater threat and after Iran took US hostages. (Jimmy Carter was in charge, remember?)

Osama himself denies any connection to the CIA.

Wow! How original of you to blame Bush! You are the very first person I have ever heard that from. Wake up! Bush is the only man in our government capable of helping our country. I would vote for him again if I could!
