qwerty prints ok but as mentioned some keys have become numeric.

There could be a possibility that you might have pressed a key by accident that makes it show up. If it is the keyboard, then the wireing in the sensitive touch receptors must have crossed wires and you should get a replacement. You can determine this by typing the alphabet using only one finger and if a number shows up, then get a new one.

Make sure you havent hit function on the keyboard, sometimes on laptops and stuff, they put numbers withe letters. When you hit the function key, you can press these numbers.
Havent heard of a keyboard dying, theyre pretty indestructible

Most laptops have a function key (Fn) that will allow keys to perform other functions. If you look at the keys on keyboard, there's probably another letter or number on it that coresponds with hitting the Fn key. Check and see if you have sticky keys turned on, or the Fn key depressed.

Time to buy a new one. It either has been spilled on one too many times or it bumped into something too hard. Either way, keyboards just like to die sometimes and they start doing weird things.
