Renting here has gotten high in $'s, I work 40hrs a week and am currently looking for a second job just to be able to keep my head out of the water, sorta speak. Is anyone else going through the same thing? Does anyone else think like me, that we should be able to work one job and be able to live comfortably with all the money circulating throughout the states here in the US? Just wondering.

I agree. Sometimes I think about what its going to take to live a successful life, and I am confused? No matter how many hours you work, the prices of homes and apartments continue to rise, it seems so impossible. To compete you need good schooling and a steady career. It does seem all so impossible though, I know exactly how you feel.

Yes. I completely agree. I'm a single mom and my 4 year old goes to pre-school. I still can't afford to live outside of my parents home - without the expense of daycare. And I'm in accounts payable, so it's not like I have a low paying job. I can't get a second job b/c I have to be home with my son at night. It is ridiculous.

You don't say where 'here' is, so it's hard to relate. But in general the idea of working one job and surviving is a decades old phenomenon. Not today. Most people either have to have a good paying job, or need extra income.

You always have the option of moving to a city were there is a lower cost of living. Or finding a job that pays better.

I live in a two income household and we barely make it from paycheck to paycheck. The economy is in terrible condition. You aren't the only one in the same boat. I would say that a majority of Americans feel the same way.
