In Hindu mythology, Manu is a title accorded the progenitor of humankind, first king to rule this earth, who saves mankind from the universal flood. He is honest which is why he is called "Satyavrata", or faster on to the truth.

It depends on which Indian tribe, they all have a creation story. For example, The White River Soiux believe the first human was Rabbit Boy or Blood Clot Man. One day Rabbit was walking along and came across a blood clot, how it got there no one knows, but he started to kick at it and eventually it formed into a blob, then had arms and legs and eventually formed the first boy.
The Southern Ute also have a Blood Clot legend. The tribes around the Great Lakes have legends about the Great Sun creating all, some in the Southwest have the first woman being impregnated by a sunbeam, thus creating all...etc
If you are interested in Indian myths and legends, there is a pretty good book, "American Indian Myths and Legends" by Richard Erdoes and Alfonzo Ortiz
