Okay my Dad must be crazy, he thinks that the song is based off some unexplained event in which a group of people left their cars and 'dissapeared.' I've told him that in reality it's a song about depression and suicide. But he seems to think that because at the end of the music video it has a news broadcast thing in which the correspondent says "they just started walking" or something to that effect, That it's based off a real life unexplained event on which people started walking and have never been found since. -_-

Please tell me i'm not the crazy one, it's doing my head in.

I think if the song was about people leaving their cars and disappearing, it would of referenced that in some way lol...you're right it's about someone feeling the pressures of what life has to offer and wondering if they can find the strength to go on

Most of this was written by R.E.M. drummer Bill Berry. He quit the band in 1997 shortly before recording their album Up. After that album, the band almost broke up, but decided to continue as a trio. Berry became a farmer.
This is an anti-suicide song or people just going through tuff times . Berry wanted to reach out to people who felt they had no hope.

I think you're right. There are some really bizarre music videos out there (haven't seen this one)...can you imagine if they all actually had anything to do with the content of the lyrics?
