No. Anyone who adopts a child, either abandoned, orphaned or given by the parents, is doing the right thing, provided they can love, care for and financially support the child. Children need loving, safe homes and lives.

I think being so public about it was wrong of her, but that's Madonna...

I truly believe that Madonna wanted to do good by adopting a child from a 3rd world country. However, I don't really approve of how she went about it. She seems to have made preliminary arrangements through the orphanage to find "acceptible" children who were somehow pre-screened for her to come down and choose from among them. And then it turns out that the child she picked is not actually an orphan, but has one living parent who questionably signed over his parental rights.

Angelina found her two adopted children while she was actually spending time doing charity work at the orphanages. Both times, Angelina didn't plan on adopting, but she found children who she bonded with and she decided to adopt them. Her second child, in particular, was in very poor health at the time and the orphanage administrators argued against the adoption because they initially weren't sure that the child would survive, but Angelina adopted her anyways. As much as I want to give her the benefit of the doubt, the way that Madonna went about this adoption really seems a bit like a publicity stunt.

I am a huge, but HUGE, Madonna fan, and I have to say that no matter what Madonna does, whether good or bad, the media crucifies her. I do not personally agree with globe-trotting where adoptions are concerned (one should adopt in one's own country since there are needy kids everywhere), however, I do believe that Madonna is sincere and has done a loving thing. The child is better for it, and the media really needs to leave Madonna, her husband and family alone. She has stated her position on "Oprah," and now it's time to let the family live in peace. That kid is one lucky little sucker! I wish Madonna would adopt me.

I think it's none of our business if it's right or wrong for Madonna to have adopted this child.
If the adoption agencies, the laws of Davids country and the laws of her country have all been followed and if she has been approved, then who are we, the public to judge her for it or to even question her integrity or motives.
Regardless of what her intentions are, the end result is clear, this little boy would have most likely died where he was before she came along and showed an intrest in him. Is it wrong to want to help a child and give him or her a better life? I don't think so.
And until someone can show me a well developed argument to the contrary, I think it's far from a wrong thing for her to have done.

I'm sure the father misses his children and probably was working towards getting them back but regardless, they would never have had the same quality of life and opportunities that they will with Madonna. The best part is that they're together. It would be sad if one child had a better life and the other was left behind... But what worries me is that these children might lack a single, loving, and caring parent. Celebrities or very rich people tend to overuse nannies, especially since she's an entertainer, she is probably very busy. I don't know what kind of parent she is though so I can't judge. I just hope she teaches them about their country, language, and culture, though. It'd be a pity for them to lose that identity.

What's most important is the welfare of that child. I think if you are willing to feed and clothe and love a child as your own you should be commended not damned like she has been.

Many has accused her of doing this for attention because her career is at a low, but honeslty I think Madonna may like a little peace and quiet and its the father of the baby that announced it to the media causing the stir and of course the media blew everything out of proportion, this is the cost of being famous, you can't make a move, not even a good one without being critisized, and paparatzied to death, I say let them live. I am happy that she intends on letting the child visit his home and there is hope in that he may return for the betterment of Africa.

I don't think shes wrong I just think she went about it the wrong way. If she didn't want to wait the 18 months to adopt him then she could have gone to another country to adopt. And whats with all the celebrities adopting kids from other countries...there are plenty of kids in America who could use a good home.

The media just likes turning the poulation against celeberaties.
They are as human as me and you, just with more money, and more stuck up.
She has the right to a baby, and with her age I'm almost posotive that she has hit metopause, so the option of carrying is out, and who knows, maybe she had uteral damage from party days, so maybe she can't have one of her own, but to deny her the right of mothering a child is inhumane. Thou shalt not judge right?

Denise W: Nice to hear that, I'm sure the child you adopt will be in a loving nurturing enviroment. Best of luck to you and your family,
And Madonna's too.
