Ask your doctor he will help! And just remember that you can do anything even if it hurts for a short period of time, and it is very true, you do forget. Even seconds after my first daughter was born, I felt like I could have done it again 10 times over just to have her. Good Luck

I am 32 weeks pregnant and it's been 6 years since I had my son, so I kinda forgot how the pain felt like. But today, no lie I had a contraction and boy I was about to cry. It was a sharp pain that started in my lower back and went around my lower belly, I swear I could not move until it stop which it took a little time but seem like it took a long time because it was that painful. With my first child I went natural and I was planning on going natural again this time, but forget that I will be screaming for some pain killers the moment I get that first painful contraction.

Good Luck!!!!!!

Honey, I'm a whimp, and managed to give birth with gas and air. As crazy as it sounds, I didn't really have the time to think about how scared I was of the pain...and I'm convinced the tooth ache I got three weeks after giving birth hurt way more than child birth!
If you are that concerned, get an epidural, but like I said, I'm a whimp, and I managed to give birth with nothing to kill the pain- the gas and air was taken off me when I was about to give birth!

With my first child I attempted to give birth with no pain killers. I have a fairly high tolerance for pain, but after several hours I was just tired and needed a relief. I had an epidural along with a shot of pain killer in my IV, wish I could remember what it was.

The pain of child birth is like no other pain. It's very hard to describe, more like a burning and tightening than a stomach ache pain, but it comes with the contractions and then subsides after each one. And after the baby is born the pain is instantly gone and forgotten. It is intense, but if you're fearful, opt for pain meds.

A delivery with pain meds is no cop out. You get to enjoy the experience of the birth more clearly. Having a child naturally does not mean without pain meds. A natural child birth is a vaginal birth. Everyone is different and everyone has a different experience and view on pain meds. I say, if they will give you a more positive experience, go for it!!!!

And yes, the epidural does completely illiminate the pain. I had one with both of my boys and I felt nothing but the tightening of my belly with contractions both times.

Good luck Mommy!!!!

If you get an epidural, the pain will be considerably lessened. I didn't feel much of anything. I have had two children and used epidurals both times.

I wanted to go natural the first time, but I couldn't keep up with my contractions. I was overmedicated the first time so I couldn't move my legs for a day and a half after delivering.

If you rip during delivery, it can cause your recovery to be more painful. I experienced both a bad recovery with the first and good recovery with the second.

Every pregnancy is different, every delivery is different. It just depends on how your body deals with stretching.

I took Vicodin, Motrin and Tylenol 3 at different times in the hospital. Since pain medication gets passed to the child and I breastfed, I only took Vicodin twice after leaving the hospital for both post-partums.

Hunny i am a wuss to! THe birth part was a breeze....i was in labor 20 some hours, but guess what if you are plannin to take the epidural u wont feel a thing ...you'll just sleep until push time. I ended up having a C-section so i can't tell you how the push feels, but i hear its more pressure than pain. If you have a the C-section, you're numb...just feel the pressure as they push the baby out. So really...thanks to epidural, its more uncomcortable than painful!

After effects: Prob sore if you have a vaginal...or in mycase, very painful stitches...but if u have that (stitches and C-section) you;ll get real fun and strong painkillers (make u feel like superwoman until it wears off!)

That said, you'll be fine =) If i can do it...you can!
Good luck.

I've had 3, my first was a natural childbirth of 26 hours labor and I never took anything for pain!!! They taught me in childbirth classes that no pain killer eliminates the pain only the memory of it. My next 2 were C-sections which is an easier delivery, but afterwards the recovery is harder. No matter which, whatever pain you experience will not be remembered, nor will it matter because It's worth every ounce of pain!!
Epidurals are the best thing for pain, as they do not sedate you, you're completely numb and you remember the birth.

I have to disagree with nicey love. I had two c-sections and the first one wasn't much fun as it was after 25 hours of labor. My daughter was face up and wouldn't turn over so they did a c-section. With my second daughter, I had a planned c-section at 5:30 in the evening and was up walking to the nursery the next morning at 7:30 am. I had a terrific recovery the second time. It is painful to have a baby either way, just part of the process. Luckily we eventually forget all about the pain and have other children. Just relax, go to a good birthing class and be happy. It is all worth it when you see that adorable little face for the first time!!

Labour is a scary thing, but if you've taken prenatal classes they will tell you that the main thing to remember is to stay relaxed. The more relaxed you are the shorter the birth will be. What medications you will have depends on your doctor and on the situation. Most hospitals will not administer drugs or the epidural until you are 4 to 5 cm dialated because the drugs will slow down the labour and affect the baby.
Just keep telling yourself that it's only a short time until you get to meet your baby!

I have had four babies with no pain medication. I used the Bradley method of natural childbirth, which has over a 90% success rate of unmedicated births. The crowning hurt, but it only lasts for a couple of minutes. The labor was a dull ache, similar to holding your mouth open wide for a long time. I have had hunger pains before that were worse than labor.

Don't let people scare you. It is something you have to experience for yourself because everybodies delievery is different. My first child was a breeze very little pain and he was 9lbs now my second child who was barely 7lbs was very painful. Just make sure you have a great Doc. and helpful nurses and go to Lamaze classes they do help you relax. As far as pain killer try you best to deliever without any but if you must have them give you something mild. The epideral <--spelling? is very painful so I have been told. They inject it into you back/spine. That doesn't sound good just knowing that.
