What kinds of situations or life experiences do you think affect social/collective self-esteem and why?

I'm talking about social groups or categories that pertain to gender, race, religion, nationality, ethnicity, and socioeconomic class.

I would say social situations that make you uncomfortable because they make you feel like isolating yourself. Isolation is the worst. People need people....but, they don't need people who are bad for developing a good self-esteem.

"Poverty" no-1 as far as I'm concerned. as long as we have it, it will have a negative affect on our society.
