Yeah so what. They're either thrown away or used to help sick people, at least put it to good use

Something else people who support embryonic stem- cell research refuse to admit is that although a lot has been accomplished with adult stem-cell research , there have been NO breakthroughs with the embryonic cells. When tested the subjects given the ESC's had adverse reactions and some subjects were left with twitches or seizures , which to this day they cannot correct.. Also why is it up to the Federal Government to pay for any scientific research, next Johnson &Johnson or Henry Schein etc.. Are going to decide to let the government pay for their research . Billions of dollars are donated for this research by private individuals at NO time should it be federaley funded..... any of it..

I am personally against abortions. Now having said that, I don't believe for an instant, that when a mother makes the very bad decision to have an abortion, it occurs to her that maybe stem cells from her aborted fetus can be used for research. It is for this reason, I can not understand the logic that allowing stem cell research will somehow cause more abortions.

For the love of mud, man, they're not going around ripping babies of pregnant women in their last trimester and then slicing them up in some satanic orgy. Get a grip.
What stem cell researchers DO use is a few cells collected from embryonic, tadpole-like fetuses that would never have made it anyway. And egg/sperm/fetus are willingly and knowingly donated to medical science. And the research performed on these cells will save thousands of already-existing people from a wide number of serious diseases.

why don't you worry more about the people who are ALREADY living, instead of the few who were never going to live anyway?

Yes, I did know that. Stem cells also can be obtained from embryos grown in test tubes, umbilical cords, baby teeth, and even adult humans.
What is the difference in using UNWANTED aborted babies and someone donating their body to research? It's not like they are aborting babies just to use for research.
And if you have a problem with abortion then don't do it, but don't judge other people for what they feel is best for them. If you want to make a difference then start adopting and raising those unwanted babies.

I simply cannot understand the tactics being used in this debate.

Stem cell researchers are not going out and paying women to have abortions. They're also not trying to clone a human army.

I wish people like you would read actual information and research on these subjects before spouting off the stupid, exxagerated and just plain made up stuff that you're being told just to scare you and outrage you. Read the actual data and get the actual/true facts. Or do you enjoy being used like a ventriloquists' dummy?

Yes I DID KNOW THAT!

Abortion is a Woman's right, you are the one who needs to wake up. Also, stem cell research could save millions of lives!!

Okay, or the babies could be raped by child molestors, brought up in abusive drug ridden households and grow up to kill you, or they could save many lives and help hundreds of thousands of people by potentially cureing numerous diseases. Babies die in Africa all of the time, women die all of the time from having babies in Africa too young, etc. There is a broader picture and the fact is death is a part of life. Try thinking in Macrocosims. If there were a lisence for who could have and reproduce children then abortions wouldnt be a problem.

Ya i did,
if the mom aborted the baby she obviously doesnt want it anymore so why should it go to waste when we can use it to aid our research

Every one of you have missed the whole point of abortion. It is destroying life and God will not take the murdering of His children lightly. Besides when those who aborted their babies meet them on the other side...then they will have to face what they did to their children. And they will have lost their Salvation! And the joy of raising their little ones.

yes but did you know that most of the stem cells they use for this research are left over from invetro fertilization? sometimes in life you have to choose the lessor of two evils...people are going to continue to have these procedures done that result in fetus's not being born is it then better to throw them out destroying all chances of finding the answers for all these diseases? or is it better to use the fetus instead to help save someone else's child?
