I went to school back in the day, when girls had normal names like Linda, Cindy, Nancy. Teachers would ask me "where did you get a name like that?" And no, I'm not going to tell you my name, I think it was my father's curse for me not being a boy.

Yes. Sometimes people give names to their children without first thinking of what effects that name will have on them. I once met a girl called Mild Wildgoose. Children get teased, and it could cause serious behaviors in the years ahead.
In an article I read, and it is common in the bible as well, people got named with incidences. A mother would name her child "Pain" or "Agony" because of the pain and Agony she went through during the pregnancy.
I am from the school of thought that if a name causes you discomfit, change it, there is nothing ungodly about that, and the heavens to will change their registry.

Not embarrassment but sometimes annoying. My name isn't uncommon or difficult to say but yet no matter what it gets said wrong. Cassie like Cas-e but everyone says Case-e which is spelt Cassy. Or if they misunderstand when I say it they think I said Cathy.

my mom named me Sarah Lee (nobody doesn;t like Sarah Lee) i was a chubby kid in grade school and everyone would make fun of me and ask if i was going home to poundcake after school, i was tormented for years

yeah, when prince came out with that DAM song Nikki grinds. well guss what's my name??? well any way every ione who knew my name would sing that song when ever i walked by. boy was that summer messed up for me..

well, my real name is Horst so they sometimes tease me at school "kabayo"(tagalog for horse) i hate people who cant spell, i mean look at the "t" its not an "e" its a "t" maybe they are blind. hmmm
