Google wins

I think there is a perception that they are in competition, but they are really moving in slightly differing directions.

Google has cool tools, all centered around searching....even the acquisition of YouTube is directed at search functionality.

Yahoo, on the other hand, is moving towards being a centralized portal for social networking. While it does have search, it's focus is on the ways people connect and share with each other....flikr, del.icio.us, webjay, and upcoming.org were all products Yahoo aquired with the plans of offering an integrated social networking platform.
