I need to buy another PC but I only need to buy the PC part not the whole computer meaning monitor and all I was checking fry's the other day and they wanted to sell me a refurbished one I was kind of spectacle on it the salesman told me no one had owned it before it was straight from the company. But doesn't refurbished mean someone returned it and Fry's sent it back to the manufacture? If anyone knows any places either online or in Southern California please let me know, oh one more thing how much should I not go over spending wise for a 512mb?

If your other parts are good consider having yours upgraded by a good shop.

Wrong! most people immediately believe that a refurbished computer is one that has been used and is being remade into a newer computer. In allot of cases this is correct. Often large companies will lease countless numbers of computers, and in 1 to 2 years they must return them to the manufacturer. {I work for the IT department of a government agency, we do exactly this}
---- BUT there are other reasons a PC can be refurbished. If the PC sat on the lot at the manufacturer for too long and has become outdated, it may be more cost effective for them to upgrade some of the components and sell it as refurbished, then to sell the computer with the outdated components. Also, if a manufacturer is returned a PC by a store such as Best Buy after the store identifies it as being defective before it reaches a customer, or if the PC was on display for a considerable amount of time, like you will find at an Apple store, these PC's will often be overhauled and resold for a profit. ---- It's not a bad deal, its good for you and the manufacturer --- Good luck.

When you are ready to buy a new system, go to www.stupidcheapcomputers.net. I buy all of my stuff from them.

I bought a complete, new system from them with a warranty for LESS than it would cost me to build it myself or order a custom one from the manufacturer. You can use my frequent buyer code: ATX926. That will get an additional 10% discount at checkout.

I have NEVER had any problems with anything that they have sold me and their customer service is outstanding. Those guys blow my mind.

Good luck!
