i'm planning to buy ALIENWARE area 51 series desktop, (frankly speaking i'm only interested in the cool desktop outer-skin) but i was wondering after a few years, i would want to upgrade all the core component (of course i'll keep the skin), i'm afraid they're using their own component with their only designated parts that i'm not able to replace it with other brands' component. is it possible to do so?

or there are any similar desktop out there with cool skin design that is cooler??
(i'm only interested in a cool desktop skin, and with upgradable component)
please help~

All you need to find out is the compliance of the case they are shipping it in (atx, micro atx...etc) with this information you will be able to buy future motherboards with those specifications that should fit in the slots in the future (might want to make sure that your ports align properly with an upgraded motherboard in the future for that case)

It's real easy, sometimes companies send a plate that you can just slide in/out of a case so the ports on the motherboard (ps2, serial..etc) fit properly. Should be no problem though if you get format right.

Everything else from there is upgraded according to your motherboard min/max specifications and power supply min/max voltage.

Hope this helps.

Sorry what you've got may well be obsolete in a couple of Yrs I as this is a dedicated system I would shop around and and checkout other skins, and replaceable systems.

Why not just buy a "cool" skin box ??? that would be cheaper and you could load it witht he componets you wanted and be able to upgrade when you wanted??
