I was when I was in 4 grade I had a sub teacher dug her nails in my arm and she wouldn't let go until another teacher checked on us and she told me to go to the nurses and principals office and they allowed me to stay in another teachers class until the regular came back. Then in High school a teacher made fun of me due to my handwritting and it was a special ed teacher

I did have a special ed teacher that did not fully support the needs of my daughter and allowed the other special ed boys to make rude and disturbing comments.

That woman is currently under investigation

Something people need to know is how long ago did this happen? If it happened 15 years ago or more, there really wasn't any such thing as "assault" by a teacher. Teachers could pretty much discipline however they felt appropriate. My husband confirms the stories I always heard about the nuns in a Catholic school. They were wicked! They walked around with a wooden ruler and would hit you on the knuckles for something as simply as staring into space. In some respects, kids have no idea how "good" they have it now! I started teaching 27 years ago and we could paddle a child without a witness for anything we wanted and no one ever said a word. When the move began to remove corporal punishment from the schools, many parents were very unhappy. They believe that is why the schools are out of control now. In surveys, we still get a few parents to tell us to bring back corporal punishment. Years ago, it was perfectly OK to twist a child's ear, pinch a child or make them do things like hold a heavy stack of books for a long period of time- maybe an hour or more.

When I was in fifth grade, my teacher made fun of my handwriting and made me so stressed out that one night when I spent the night with my aunt she woke up and I was sitting up in bed, writing in the air, repeatedly saying "I have to get this right. I have to get this right." She told my mother about it but other than
saying she wished she could scratch the teacher's eyes out, nothing happened. She was a mean old woman but everyone thought she was a good teacher.

Things have really changed!

No, I have never been assualted by a teacher. Now lets say "put down or talked back at" sure teachers have done that to me. In my high school a teacher tried to embarrass me in History class because I knew too much about European history and was ahead of the readings. Most teachers are just *******. With this one I made sure she knew what she was and actually ended embarrasing her.
Never let anybody put you down or even lay a finger on you, teacher or not. Bahs!

I never have been but my oldest was in third or fourth grade and his teacher told him to go take his book to the library because it was past due. When my son got up to the library the teachers aide told him to get back in class. When my son explain that the teacher told him to take the book back she drug him down 2 flieghts of stairs and told him next time he better listen to her.He suffered bruises on his legs and finger nail marks on his arm and of course the school said I was making it up.That happen at Case Elementry in Cleveland. My other child was hurt by a teachers aide 2 years ago in the second grade at Marion C Seltzer in Cleveland Ohio.He did back talk the teachers aide but still no reason for the teachers aide to take my sons arms and bend then in a backwards motion making my son touch the seat he was sitting in causeing fluids to build up on his elbow. My son kept telling me about this teacher aide making threats to him but the school denied it just like they denied his elbow being injured as a result of the teacher aide bending his arms back. They said he jump off of the window cell and fell.In Cleveland Ohio there is alot of abuse going on with students because as soon as a school says the child is lieing it will not hold up in court.I moved to Texas to get away from the teachers abuse on my kids.WRONG,they hit them with wooden paddle here if they forget to say yes/no mam/sir when talking to a teacher.

No, I never did anything to put myself in a position where a teacher would feel they needed to physically deal with me. Actually I've seen more teachers assaulted by students than the other way around.

I did get spanked when I was in like 2nd grade, but I deserved it.. i was a hellion..
If I were you and that happened to me, I would have sued the school board and the teacher for it. Both times for you.. Teachers get away with a lot of things.. sorry that happened to you.

You should report this teacher to the authorities because you were assaulted. No teacher can make contact with a student using such drastic means. I mean a teacher's job is only to teach, and not be an authoritarian. Parents only should discipline their kids. Again, report this "glorified" tutor to the authorities.

No I haven't. But as a teacher I have had to physically restrain students from attaching each other. I have also been assaulted by students. Students assaulting teachers is a much, much bigger problem then teachers assaulting students. There is no excuse whatsoever for either and it you have been assaulted by a teacher, you should report it.
