emo = the new nümetal.
emo is now unfortunately thrown on every new band, kind of like musical pants. everyone's got 'em but not everyone needs them.

some good rock music with an actual emo bent (read: not avenged sevenfold or metal masquerading as emo) that you may not be aware of:

-the felix culpa
-mew
-ammi
-inspector owl
-these arms are snakes
-the ghost (r.i.p.)
-el oso

major labels harm music more than anything.
educate.

A Novel Form and the Perishers are pretty good, from what I've heard of their stuff. Go to CDBaby.com and browse the emo portion of the rock section. They have good stuff by some smaller bands, as well as bands that have since made it big.

Well....I think you should check out Regina Spektor, The Proles, Versus the World, and Meg & Dia.

Go look them up on MySpace music and listen to some songs. I really like Regina Spektor and Meg & Dia!
