If you didn't burn yours in the 'Sixties, you might want to put it away now. "Bras cause breast cancer. It's open and shut," says medical researcher Syd Singer.
Women who wore their bras 24 hours per day had a 3 out of 4 chance of developing breast cancer (in their study, n=2056 for the cancer group and n=2674 for the standard group).
Women who wore bras more than 12 hour per day but not to bed had a 1 out of 7 risk.
Women who wore their bras less than 12 hours per day had a 1 out of 152 risk.
Women who wore bras rarely or never had a 1 out of 168 chance of getting breast cancer.
The overall difference between 24 hour wearing and not at all was a 125-fold difference.
looked it up and there it was so yes it can some of these people need to do a little reasearch before they speak

I heard of this same thing. I also was told my boobs would never grow. If you are wearing a super tigh one, well then yeah, most likely. But Breast cancer I dont think so! Breast cancer will come if you have history of it in your family. Dont worry a bra will not do such damage. If it still bothers you, try wearing a tank top with a built in bra, Its softer and less tight. Just make sure you get your breasts examined every year. I had a check up, and was thought to have a lump in my breast, it turned out to be extra tissue in the muscle, but I didnt play games I had it checked out. (Im only 20)
Its great your having caution, keep it up, but dont believe every thing you hear. (Smile)

I heard that before but as for me, I am more comfortable sleeping bra-less. Cancer is more likely a hereditary condition so it must start from there and not from wearing bra overnight. Though it would help giving your mammary glands some rest from constrictors once in a while.

Yes, actually.
Let's put it this way - ANYTHING that stresses your cells can lead to cancer. This is pretty much why so blasted many things are linked to cancer these days.
One link that has been known for years is that women wearing bras that hold their breasts tightly experience lymph drainage problems. Tubes in your breasts which are supposed to allow fluids out get constricted... much the same thing that happens with blood in your arm if you squeeze it too tight. Build-up of lymph fluids can cause pain, swelling, and a bunch of other unpleasant side effects. Including cancer.
Below is a link to scientific research demonstrating this. It SOUNDS wacky, but you can't really argue with results, can you? Note also that one of the key phrases above is 'tight-fitting'. If you insist on wearing a bra to bed, wear one without elastic that is loose-fitting. Sports bras are RIGHT OUT.

I think this is a myth. I don't think cancerous cells develop if you wear a bra to sleep. My mother used to tell me this, but I still wear a sports bra to sleep and I'm fine.

Seeing as how humans have slept wrapped up in clothing and blankets and other fabrics without epidemics of breast cancer for thousands of years; I find that correlation highly dubious.

No, not at all, there are 10-12 risk factors for CA breast but this particular thing has not been mentioned anywhere.
