STRANGE...........
but when u say his eyes glow red u might be seeing the glare of the light in its eyes , also the only reason why he keeps guarding the door is cuz he knows ur going 2 give him a treat so he is going 2 keep doing it but try getting a newspaper and roll it up and tap him on the nose but be careful cuz he might get mad and bite but don't be chicken cuz dogs no when people r scared so they take that advantage 2 get something they want

if that doesn't work then try getting him trained to obey u when you say come here and sit and stay and that sort of stuff

p.s. try taking him 2 anger managment. LOL!!!

I knew this Border Collie about the same age whos owner had to give him up for the same reasons (his eyes didn't go red though lol). He was a viscious thing wouldn't be played with ahe had to put him on a lead to put him in the garden so he didn't have your hand off.

Border Collies are very active and energetic dogs i have one myself. The trick is to keep them entertained, plenty of exercise. If they get bored they become destructive and often nasty. However, i think your dog is a little old to learn again it may be too late.

Good Luck!

That's just bloodshot eyes, the dog is getting drunk. My pug puppy did the same thing. Her mother loved beer, and for the most part I kept it in a place she couldn't reach it. But one time she got onto the table and knocked by beer over and she began to drink it off the floor. My puppy saw her (and the puppy was only 4 mos. old) and went over and began drinking it too. When I got back she was already drunk (she could still fit in the palm of my hand, so it wouldn't take much to get her drunk). Her eyes were red and bloodshot and she kept growling at everybody (I guess she was a mean drunk) and trying to bite me when I would pick her up. I put her in her bed and she fell asleep immediately, and woke up just fine. Your dog may be finding the liquor as well.

Don't worry, there is a perfectly rational explanation. Asking stupid questions to waste peoples' time is the number 1 leading cause of border collies turning savage. Well, after an empty food cupboard, anyway.

His eyes cannot glow red. And border collies are not generally mean breeds. Is this a joke?

get some info on dogs and domination, your dog needs to learn BIG TIME that he is not the boss! We have a dog whose eyes go green when he gets mad!
