I'm doing a speech on pirating CDs and DVDs. So do you think it is illegal?
If you think it is illegal, then why? Also if you think it is legal, then why?

I definetley think it is illegal (not that i dont do it or anything). I mean, its stealing from people who work hard to put a CD or DVD together. I know that they make a lot of money anyway, but still, the money is theirs and it deserves to go to them. Anyway, if you like their music or movies...wouldnt you want to support them??

Well, in all reality, it is illegal. Do I think it should be illegal? I don't know. Part of me wants to say yes it's wrong because these people worked very hard for their money... But that part of me that has to pay for this stuff wants to say no it shouldn't be illegal because they over-charge. So I guess it's a matter of how moral and law-abiding you really are. Because the right thing to do would be to go to a store and buy these things. But, sometimes we choose to do the wrong thing anyway.

F--k no, I don't see what's so illegal about it. Look, I'm a musician, and as far as I'm concerned, anybody can download all my music they want to. I mean, do you know what the markup is on CD's? The bands actually recieve very little of the profits, unless they are truly independent and put them out themselves (like I do). You know who's behind all these lawsuits against music downloading sites? The recording industry (as Frank Zappa called them, "The Record Company Pricks"), not the musicians. The one example I always come back to is Metallica, after years of telling their fans to record and film their concerts they get greedy and decide to sue Napster...what a joke. F--king hypocrites...their talent with with their hair anyway.

Yes it is illegal. Pirating them is theft from the originator.

If you copy 1, make 100 from that one and profit from it one or two thousand dollars.
That is how much you stole from the people who own and made the movie or music cd.

Shortly it would be grand theft and a felony.

yes it's illegal because it's stealing and the people who made the dvd/cd aren't getting paid for it.

The legality of it can't be debated, it is illegal, the law says so.

Whether it should be legal or not is the question, whether you think it is morally OK or not to infringe on copyrights.

Yes it is illegal. The artists who created the works do not receive any compensation (money) from the sales of their works.

There are no copyright laws in Iraq, so we got bootleg movies before they even came out in the theatres in the states! I love it!

Nobody made a fuss when people were copying cassettes or VHS tapes, so why now?
