Back at the end of WW2, the Allies (referring to America, Britian, France, and Russia) gave the land that is currently Israel to the Jews as a homeland. This was more or less a political thing so that each country could go back home and say "see, we care about the Jews and didn't just let them die in the Holocaust." But I start on a different part of the story.

We gave them the land that is currently Israel, but at the time it belonged to Arabs. Arabs of course were unhappy about that. Added to that America started setting up bases throughout the Middle East (often on holy ground to the Muslims), which only made the Arabs feel that the Americans and Israelis were working together to take away all land from the Muslims, and by extension to destroy the religion altogether. So they began to fight back. But as with all groups who want to fight but don't stand a chance against those they fight in a direct fight, they switched to terrorism.

But now, for the first time there is an Arab country capable of taking on America and Israel in a direct fight (or at the very least they believe they can). Iraq tried it once but wasn't good enough to hold against America. But now, Iran is very close to having a nuclear bomb and has a rather vast army. Iran also has an ally with a large army and a way to damage the American economy (Hugo Chavez of Venezuela along with his oil). And Iran also has another country that, while not an ally per se, is setting itself up against America (Kim Jong Il of North Korea). Added to that is that America has been severely weakened by being stuck in Iraq and having to hold back a large reserve to deal with all three threats coming at it (Venezuela, Iran, North Korea) and that generally means that Israel no longer has its strongest ally fighting with it. Now with all the other Arab countries generally joining in any fight against Israel, Iran feels it is in the perfect position to attack Israel and take back the land that was taken from the Arabs and at the same time save the Islamic religion. So it is now choosing to begin the threats.

While previous legislation supported by AIPAC has slowed Iran's quest for nuclear arms and the missiles to deliver them, the International Atomic Energy Agency confirms that Tehran is moving forward with its illicit nuclear program. Through such legislation as the Iran Freedom Support Act, AIPAC is working with Congress to extend and strengthen existing sanctions on Tehran in an attempt to choke off funds it could use to build atomic bombs.

The costs of developing new systems to keep Israel safe in the next century will be considerable -- and American support, critical. AIPAC works with Congress to increase military assistance to Israel and to strengthen cooperative defense programs to counter these emerging threats.

much of the unrest in the middle east stems from british colonialism. upon britain's exit from the middle east after WW2, the area was divided up by the west without much consideration given to the indigenous religion/politics. in 1948, israel delcared itself a nation - making the palestinians homeless. this is still an issue to this day. palestinians are fighting for a nation of their own, and iran is backing them up.

To rally all the Muslim extremists around them. They know all Muslims hate Israel, and by using this tactic, they draw attention to themselves.

They're islamo-fascists that want Israel and any Westerner wiped off the face of the earth. These terrorists want their religion to be "the" religion of the world. They will succeed if we won't stop being politically correct against terrorists.
