Same as any other kind of arrogance. "I'm right one hundred percent of the time, and you're wrong one hundred percent of the time." That's arrogance. PETA is an excellent example. I enjoy barbecued animal flesh, thus I'm totally 100% evil. PETA is 100% good because they Love the little bunnies. All arrogant people are fascists. PETA is arrogant. Therefore PETA is fascist. No room for debate, discussion, or live-and-let-live. Same with the tobacco-nazis and climate freaks and militant vegans. All the same type of arrogant fascists.

The oft made assumption that because a person holds a position equated with holding great knowlege,(doctor, lawyer, professor, scientist, etc.) , That, the person should be considered a expert universally, not just within their own field of expertise.
It is an exaggerated sense of ones own importance and ability.
Vanity over ones acedemic achievement, to the point of blinding them to the fact that they posess SOME knowlege, -NOT the SUM OF ALL KNOWLEGE.

Academic arrogance is when you think that because you are educated you think you are better than others and that your opinion is the only correct one.
You get so embroiled in your world that you don't realise what reality is and so you don't understand why normal people do things.

I feel that academic arrogance is when you think you are more "educated" than another person and look down on them. Or if you believe you are more cultured than another. You can be smart, but not wise.

To me academic arrogance is when you're smart, but not smart enough to realize you should be humble.
