My reasons would be...
You don't have the same pupils every day, all day.
You don't have to teach the basics.
You can get away earlier than primary school teachers for some reson.
I think that is all

do you have a specific subject that you want to study and teach? Mine was English.
Teaching elementary didn't interest me because you spend all your time on the very basics and you teach all subjects not just one subject.
Teaching at a secondary level you have the basics already learned (at least we hope so) and you can expect more from your students. You can assign a paper or reading assignment and be confident in your students ability to actually perform the task. (Not that they will actually do it of course).
You can have a discussion about the assignment, the students can think for themselves.
Also a plus, you can leave the room for a couple of minutes (emergency potty break?) and not worry that the students will be wrecking havoc in the room while you are gone.

I asked myself the same question when applying to do my PGCE (which I am doing at the moment). The thing is, that though primary school children are nicer and there is less of a problem with classroom management and behaviour issues; it just isn't as challenging academically. I wanted to do a job that continually stretched my own knowledge, with students of an intellectual level that could respond to more challenging and exciting tasks.
I think secondary teaching is better for people who are passionate about one particular subject, and who are unfazed by attitude and workload. If you like the challenge, then I reckon it is a fantastic job to do!

Teaching is a way to multiply yourself--your values, your ideas, the time and effort you have put into studying and learning. It is a way to influence your community, and eventually, your world. Young people, those who will soon be competing for jobs and positions that will affect our future, can be challenged to use their intellect and personality strengths to effect positive changes, and you can provide the spark that starts them thinking that way.
Teaching secondary is fun when you remember to look at their behavior with a sense of humor, and when you enjoy what you teach.
Teaching secondary, like teaching any level, has great benefits also--like time off when your kids are off, lengthy holiday vacation periods, and of course, summer vacation!

I taught the secondary level pupil as a self-satisfaction regardless of the job itself. I even taught them to raise their consciousness about the subject matters, to develop the habit of research, charaters, and moral as well as collboration, cooperation among the childrean.

teaching secondary pupils gives more self satisfaction. You mould their future and have a bigger impression on them, if you have the discpline under control of course!

You get to teach the subject you enjoy and avoid those you hate! You also get to meet a greater variety of kids and aren't stuck with the same ones all the time- it depends if you are one of those people who likes to reach out and help loads of people in one way, or help a smaller group in-depth.
Plus there is far, far less puking, crying, falling over and general 'child' stuff to deal with. As I said when someone called me brave for doing it 'I'd rather have to tell someone off for saying s*** than for doing one in their pants!'. Ugh, I'd hate to work with tots.

Why teach high school?
No play ground duty
No bus duty
Free Lunch--elem. have a tendency to have the teacher be with the students.
Your prep time is during the class's "specials" (P.E., art, music)
therefore it isn't at the same time each day.
No with the same students ALL day.
