We put Jean-Bertrand Aristide -'the little priest' - in charge, then a few years later, we sent a shadowy group to take him out, take him off the island and dump him in southern Africa. Why? Did I miss the news that Haiti has discovered oil?

No there's no oil in Haiti.
But , the US Government brought him back because the US thought that they could control Aristrid, and he promised the States certain State companies like Teleco, the State Telephone Company, but once back in power , Aristide changed his mind.
Also he was asking Billion of Dollars from the French, because Haiti had to pay for it's independance . If the French had paid , maybe then the Afro-Americans would have asked the US Government money for being former slaves.
Also he armed the gangs in the Shanty towns , and was using them to be a force against the rich Haitians, who were against HIM.
