My volume is all the way down and I hear music from them. It's not very loud, but I can hear it and the speakers are almost 3 feet from me. Any ideas or suggestions? It's starting to get annoying since it's not my favorite kind of music either. It is a local radio station and it started about 3 days ago.

The speakers are turned down all the way. There is nothing else on and I haven't listened to the radio on my computer in a long time.
When I put my ear to the speakers I can hear every word. The radio frequency sounds like the most logical reason. Yes, these are the speakers that came with the comuter.

Oh Yes! I can answer that question for you. I don't know if you are into working on Electronic stuff, but your answer was in your question about the Radio Station. You are receiving music from the radio Station because they have increased their power output. That is, if you only started receiving the music lately.
The wires that supply power to your house act like Arials and Audio Amplifiers can receive radio signals if connected to antennas. {Arials}. Arial is from the old days when people strung long wires on their houses to recieve signals with their Crystal Radios and early Radios.
The Name was changed to Antenna With the advent of TV Reception.
So What can you do. I know what I could do, but how to I explain it to you. Aye! There's the rub.
On the input to my computer and other Electronic Equipment I place a filter that keeps the power line spikes due to interference off of my line. A good quality Line Moniter, avaliable at almost any large department store like Circuit city or any place where they sell computers.
It is not guaranteed to work, but it is a necessary item in any case. Never connect sensitive equipment to a raw power line.
another possible solution is a filter in the line that feeds your speakers. A Capacitor of a velue of
.05 Microfarads could do the trick. Always try the least expensive thing first.
If all else fails, Try calling the FCC and inform them of the problem. I would like to know how this all turns out, so if you would please email me from my profile when you get it solved, I would appreciate it. Just a short note saying it is solved would do it.

You are somehow picking up a signal from a radio station that is on the frequency of your speakers. Perhaps the radio station has gone beyond the realm of its broadcast capacity.
Nothing strange about it; there may be some Sunspots; light and sound waves go crazy if the sun is putting out sunspots.

Well, either it's designed that way anyways...(sometimes I find that when I have my tv with the volume all the way down, I can still hear it)...or it could be that there is more than one volume control on your computer. I find that in my computer there is a volume control as well as the speakers on the outside...so maybe that's it.

What volume is down ? Speaker volume, PC volume or player volume. If you can't bear it, just disconnect the power of the speakers !!!
I suspect your speaker is Wireless.Unless, how can it stream you local radio stations !!??
Just restart ur PC and disconnect from the web

if it's a local BROADCAST radio station, it's frequency interference and you best get used to it. try moving the speakers around to see if that lessens the interference. are they the speakers that came with your computer? check to see if they are shielded... that might help.
if it's a local INTERNET radio station, you told it to play. reset your computer :)

you might have to turn your speakers down and your computer speakers. It could just be comming from something that you still have on that you have not turn off yet. Try shutting you comp down and see if that works. It also could be comming from a site you visited like that other person said.

Maybe your speaker cables are receiving radio waves (they ar acting as antennaes). Try moving the speakers or the cables. Also, try using some cable insulation to block them.
