I am a guy dressing up as a Debutante for Halloween (its meant to be fun). I am going to be wearing a ball gown, heels, updo etc LOL.

One question - what do I wear outside over this kind of dress? I am not even sure my regular coats will fit without potentially ruining it ans I know it will be near freezing on Sat night.

You gotta remember the Debutante is about classic style, so a shawl or a rap would be ideal. Go check out the Salvation Army or an older woman's closet and find something wonder and horrible at the same time.

A very nice, heavily embroidered and adorned shrug or shawl... match the colors to rock! You'll be the "belle" of the ball... something like that. Have fun!
Kudos to the straight man who will dress as a woman to the ball!

a gorgeous wrap. a woolen one will keep you warmer.
you can try charity shops for cheap ones, and vintage shops as well. if your dress is a neutral colour, such as black or white, wear a very brightly coloured and pattern shawl without any black or white. if your dress is a plan bright colour, wear a shawl of another bright plain colour, but a complementary (or a clashing) tone, not a different shade of the same colour. if the dress is highly patterned, pick out a nice colour in the pattern and have a plain wrap in that colour. xox

No... of path no longer. At maximum outdoor weddings that i've got been to, the bride replaced into donning a ball gown. in actuality, i've got by no potential even been to an indoor wedding ceremony. and that i've got continually planned on marrying outdoors and that i'll be donning a ball gown. you will seem alluring! Congrats! :)

A shawl preferably one that is the same tone of color as the dress itself. You can buy material and make one or you can buy some at like JC Penny's or Sears sometimes has them ready made. Your best bet would be to go with one that is heavier material if it is going to be chilly.

A wrap or a shawl, preferable knitted or crocheted type. They're all in style now. Just not one of those crazy poncho things.
