No. Just because you are a virgin doesn't mean you wouldn't want to know what's going on with that part of your body. PAP tests simply make sure you don't have anything negative going on within your feminine area so that when you do become sexually active, you will be familiar with your body, and know that you are healthy. Not being sexually active doesn't necessarily automatically make you immune to different complications with your body. Being tested makes sure you are OK, and if not, puts you in the direction of being taken care of.

It is actually recommended that women after the age of 18, even if they aren't sexually active, get pap smears. And especially if you are on the pill. So don't worry, your doctor is doing the right thing. I was in the same boat a while ago for my first pap smear, just make sure that the doctor knows you are a virgin, they can use a smaller instrument.

Let them know you are a virgin, they will use a smaller instrument, and not open you up as wide. I had lots of pap smears when I was a virgin. It does hurt a little more, but it is more uncomfortable than painful. There is no problem getting one done, women do it all the time. Its unpleasent, but nothing to fear.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

No. It's in your best interest to get a pap smear. Not only does it prepare the doctor to put you on the proper pill or other medications, it finds vital signs of any abnormalities. Your doctor can then work with you to correct them. It's a simple, painless (but uncomfortable) procedure that everyone should have. Speaking of which, I'm due for mine. I take one every year.

lol...no..but typically they don't give you a pap until you've had sex. I don't know why there making you go through with that. If you had bad acne your dermotologist should proscribe it that way you wouldn't have to get a pap. I didn't get a pap when I first got put on birth control. You could say your on your period that way they can't do it. I recommend if you have to get it done ask them to use the smallest utensil, it's very cold and uncomfortable. It's no fun.. You'll have some cramps afterward.. I know after mine I felt pain and I wasn't a virgin. I really hope you can by pass it..cause it's noo fun..esp since you're a virgin...:(

Goood Luck...I hope the best for you:)

you have to go to see if your healthy, and its mandated that they check you for pregnancy before they place u on birth control virgin or not....since there is no test to prove that your a virgin, It's your word against theirs and thats why they check. To ease uncomfort ask for a female gyno. I'm assuming that your a healthy virgin, so it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes, they'll probably ask u a bunch od question.

virgins get cervical cancer too
that doesn't mean if you never have sex you never get a pap smear
pap smears do not effect virginity in fact the frequent misconception is that virgin or not every woman by at least the age of 20 should have a full gyn exam and testing

Why would you feel awkward? Go to a ob/gyn and get checked out. That's what they look at all day long. Your vagina and cervix will look a lot like the previous 1000 vaginas and cervixs they examined. It's a professional situation. No reason to feel awkward or uncomfortable at all. I know that its all "very private and special" to you, but half the people on earth have vaginas. Nothing unique or real special to your doctor.

There shouldn't be any problem. If you're concerned you can ask to have a nurse with you while the doctor does the exam. It'll be uncomfortable for a few moments but not painful.

No. My best girl friend was a virgin when we both went and got put on the pills... It wont ruin your virginity, might just feel like more pressure than you are use to, Tell them you are a virgin and they will be more gentle. Good luck
