went to the gynocologist last year for routine pap test and renewal of birth control. They told me I must come back for more tests because i had abnormal growths that could be pre-cancerous cells. I went back last week and they said everything is fine. It was a different doctor at the same office. Which one should I listen to?

I went through the same thing. My OBGYN told me I had abnormal cells. I asked about it and they said it was called LGSIL. They are just cells that may or may not turn into cancer. they are the cells that turn into cells that can turn into cancer. I know many people who have been diagnosist with this. Me, personally, they set up visits every four months and after a few test they cut a little piece to send out for a biopisy. I have had a normal pap then turn around and had an abnormal one. My advice is to go to the tests and see what they have to say and ask questions about it. If you don't get the answers you need keep asking or do like I did and research it on the internet.

I wuld follow-up with a nurse in the practice or the gyn that did your original pap. Dysplasia is common with paps and can change over the course of weeks but better safe than sorry. If you were notified that your pap results were abnormal, the reason cold be very simple but someone should explain why you may have had an abnormal test in the first place.

The fastest way is to talk to the doctors nurse that told you that their are pre-cancerous cells and inquire all you want. Tell her what happened and don't be judge mental, she should respond in a manner of which your after. If you don't get what your after, then get a second opinion. A word of advice, never step on doctor's toes they will make you regret it, because doctors in the same town talk to one another, this would work against your cause. You need real answers fast, because IF you have pre-cancerous cell, they need to get out of their through minor surgery, a freezing procedure, or plain surgery, good luck in your ventures. My mother and 4 of her sisters had what the 1st doctor said you have.Or just maybe the 1st doctor made a mistake and the 2nd doctor didn't bother to let you in on it. ASK THE NURSE< TRUST ME I AM ONE!!

It is routine for them to do a second test if the first one shows abnormal growth. The second one showed that the growths are nothing to worry about, but they will probably have you come back again in 6 months or so to have another to make sure. This has happened to me more than once.

Think of it this way, when youre adding up numbers usually if its a large number, you add at least twice, if the two totals you come up with are different, dont you add the numbers a third time??

You have had 2 different results, the best/smartest thing for you to do would be to have another pap done.

Same thing happened to me, I had to go back every six months for more paps for a year to make sure things hadn't changed. Subsequent test continued to be normal. Insist on follow up test to make sure.

What did they do when you went back..did they take a biopsy? If so then your probably fine, just continue your regular check ups. but if they didn't, I would get a second opinion, it will help you sleep at night.

I didn't even read the rest of your question before I had an answer. If you ever question what a doc of any kind says, get another opinion.
