Well, yesterday I was at my nan's and I was going through her old photo albums from the 50s and 60s and it got me wondering, why don't women and girls wear dresses anymore? I mean don't get me wrong, I like jeans and stuff but it seems that no one thinks of wearing dresses out.. like not to school or anything but like women just going out, no one wears them except for special occasions, and I personally like the look of them better than pants and t-shirts. Not the ugly non-shape ones but you know, the form fitting flirty dress, I seems like a loss to me, even though I'm only 14 now I think when I get older I'm either going to wear dresses or if I can't find like any I'll make my own. But back to the question, why doesn't anyone wear them anymore?!

It's more comfortable to wear jeans or pants. I dress up when I have to, but not on a daily basis. Plus, stores don't sell many casual dresses.

I also wonder that too! Times have changed I guess. I wish women would wear dresses like that again, sometimes I feel like a boy wearing jeans all the time. If I wear a dress on a regular day people will ask why I'm dressed up! lol

I still wear dresses. Mostly to work a nice casual dress that is appropriate for business. There is nothing wrong with dresses. I am guessing maybe why most women don't wear dresses is cause you know the panty hose issue, much easier to slip on jeans or slacks.

I only did once I moved to Cali. It's far more relaxed than the uptight place I lived in. I used to think dresses were for church and funerals. But with my job I couldn't wear a skirt anyway.

There's a lot of freedom in wearing a dress and walking in the sun, and I love every minute of it when I'm not cooking!

People dress for comfort and style (or fashion) nowadays. May I add the fact that most women during that day opt to stay home and care for the family...
Although I know a lot or women my age who like to wear dresses all the time.
And I feel that they really look more refined, decent and womanly in dresses...

I think people wear dress if they are comfortable in them, i don't care to wear a dress, I just might go off and do a cartwheel, sooooooooooo I don't want any one to see my pantys. I do like the way a dress looks on me but I feel relaxed in pants, jeans, shorts.

I think it's a shame too.You know that you don't have to FOLLOW THE CROWD. Start you own thing by dressing up in the dresses that you like. I'll bet you will get something going. Even if you don't, You'll be looking good.

why wait till you're older? you can get unexpensive nice dresses right now and wear them to school. it wont be embarrasing especially if you buy them from a store at the mall where your friends shop.
