You have to have the ability to believe in your self, that you really are worthy, that you are a valuable person, and the way to do this is find one thing that you have done that you truly believed that you could never do, and build on that, for example if you have difficulty talking to people, but you have made yourself do it, if you have done it once the next time is a lot easier, as well if you can talk to people, then it cant be that hard to ask questions, or give directions, or tell people what you feel, or tell people to stop giving you grief. I call this a tag method, If I was able to do one thing, then how difficult is it to do something else, this way you can and will be come a bit more assertive

By taking your anger and using the energy to get your needs met.
There's a line between aggression and assertiveness, aggression hurts people (emotionally, physically), assertiveness gets your needs met without hurting anyone including yourself.

assertiveness comes from confidence.
So work on your self-esteem and try picking out a good self-help book from your local book store. Anthony Robbins has written a ton of books on the subject.
Good luck!

Search out your fears and walk through them, say what you mean and don't back down ,and remember that no one is any more or any less important than you are.
Never give ANYONE permission to make you feel inferior.
