I'm doing a causal argument paper on the possiblility and reasons that adults abused as children may become abuseive towards their own children later on, whether from alcoholism, emotional problems, or anger problems related to their childhood abuse. Can anyone help me find some web sources? I'm a little puzzled on where to look.

It's not true. People who say that all of the abused become abusers are freakin' morons, for lack of a better word. The reality is that yes, some do become abusive because they become angry; they don't realize there's another way to handle their anger; they can't cope. You, on the other hand, sound as though you know it was wrong. You know that there are other ways to figure out problems rather than lashing out in anger. For a lot of abused, there's more guilt association if you do hit someone or you do lose your temper, but if you're worried about it, you can always talk to a counselor to learn coping mechanisms or tricks to calm down. People learn from their environments - sometimes they take the negative and turn it into a positive, sometimes they don't. Hell, how many people have come from good homes and turned into awful people? Good homes don't necessarily mean good people. You have to make the concious effort to be a decent human being. You'll be ok :)

Well i dont know of any web sites, but i would say that there is a possibility that adults who were abused as children may become abusive towards their own children, but in the other hand Ive met many people who will NOT even touch their kid becuase they dont want their kid to go through the same thing that they went through, which could also become a problem, becasue if you dont disipline your kid then they could turn out bad. But i dont know of any web sites.

as an adult you will either repeat learned behavior or change it - so there is a 50/50 chance that someone that has been abused as a child will abuse their children.
