I have some facts if you would like...there is a difference between embryoninc stem cells and adult stem cells. Embryonic stem cells have properties that adult stem cells don't. When embryonic stem cell research was conducted, there were 2 sets of stem cells to start, and the rest were grown in a petri dish from there. SO the stem cells in question are the original 2 sets. Those sets were obtained from a fertility clinic. Fertility treatments (like the ones Geroge and Laura had to get the twins) usually result in extra fertilized eggs. MOST of these are destroyed if not used. Also, fertility treatment rarley produce ONLY one or two...usually you get pregnant with like 7 or 8. Then, you 'reduce the pregnancy'. Translation, abort SOME of the fetuses. So to sum up, abortions were never used for this research, and if people want to be pro life, they should be against fertility treatments, and adopt all of those 'extra' fertilized eggs.

I would say that most of the opinions on this site about embryonic stem cell research show a serious lack of knowledge on the subject. That is because so much dis-information has been pumped out there. Adult stem cells and embryonic cells are very different and show show different promises. Adult stem cells have been studied much longer, so there are some break-throughs that have happened. Despite what propagandists would have you believe, embryonic stem cell research has not failed, as it is still in the early stages. There is also huge hypocrisy on this subject (e.g. support for collateral damage in war where real people die, but no support for embryonic stem cell research where no real people die).
I know I'll get thumbs down for this, but ignorant people really need to get out of the way of this research.

Stem cell research has recently changed. Scientists have found a way to do their research without destroying the embryo. The new technique would be performed on a 2 day old embryo. The embryo will divide into eight cells called blastomeres. These blastomeres could be tested for Down syndrome and other birth defects before implantation. Scientists see potential in finding cures to diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and diabetes. It also could be the cure to cancer because stem cell like cells (cancer regenerates stem cell multiply alot) have been found in lukemia, breast tumors and, brain tumors.

i in my opinion do no longer help abortion. I do despite the fact that be attentive to that's a womans perfect to be certain on. i might lots particularly see an 8 celled stem cellular used to probable therapy very debilitating illnesses, than see a toddler aborted as a ability of beginning administration. There ought to truthfully be regulation on it.

I only think embryonic stem cell research is roughly the same. What also bothers me is the cult of embryonic research people that has come about recently even though it has not shown any early results whereas adult stem cell research (which does not kill) has already produced treatments. Why not spend more money going down that road first?

Wow many miss-informed here. Do you realize how many embryo's are thrown away when couples have trouble getting pregnant. These embryos could be put to good use instead of thrown away. But I don't here anyone crying out against people trying to conceive. All you here is people whining about stem cells.

It doesnt have to be so. Stem cells are easily retrieved from the placenta and the umbilical chord of the live born child, however the current patten holders use eggs and aborted fetus's which is why I wont vote for it in Nov. If they limited it to chord cells fine

There are a lot of lies being circulated about stem cell research, by the democrats.
Stem Cell Research is being supported by our government, using after-birth, etc.
The Democrats and others want to create life and then kill it for research.
That is also being done with private money, but not allowed using tax money.
Many people want Baby Farms, where babies are created, and then butchered for research.
Many people are in it for the money.
There are millions and millions of dollars to be made. Just like with abortion.
