weird.woke up this morning with that question.It's the one where the main character(i'm guessing Don Knotts?)is yer typical nerdy,dweeb looking guy feeling like a loser in life and love.
then one scene he's crouching down by the water,falls in(intentionally???) and as he sinks-slowly TRANSFORMS into an ANIMATED FISH VERSION OF HIMSELF-complete with the dorky glasses(that part still cracks me up!).Anyway,he goes thru d'same things,being bullied(by other bigger fishes),etc till he discovers one day he can shout so loud it's kinda like a"SONIC BOOM"(wave whatever) w/c becomes his weapon and changes his life.
I CAN"T REMEMBER HOW THE STORY ENDS- i was like 4-5 years old when i saw it-have never seen it since!
HELP! (even my gf's fish is trying to search the web for answers,LOL!)

That's The Incredible Mr. Limpet. Not sure how to spell it. And I saw that when I was six, and I don't remember a blasted thing about it. I remember Don Knotts, something about a hermit crab, and submarines.

Mr. Limpid (or Limpet) is correct.
He stays a fish, he prefers it. You are correct-I don't remember it being on for a long time. Yes it was Don Knotts.
