To use toothpaste you put it on your toothbrush and put it in your mouth to clean your teeth!!!!

When I get a pimple that's what I do. It stings a little at first and it does go a bit red. The toothpaste dries out the pimple and is suppose to make it clear up quicker.

It is just your skin reacting to drying it out . Give it a day and see if it is less red, if you are worried about using toothpaste try using a dab of rubbing alcohol on it a few times a day, usually it won't turn it red but put it on the zit and not your surrounding skin, otherwise it will dry out too!!!

sounds like just a bit of irritation. clean it off and try something else, you may be sensitive to the toothpaste you used.
