both my kids are "tongue-tied". it was an optional surgery for them, but they did not have any problems eating and they can both stick their tongues out somewhat. can your dtr. lick an ice cream or popsicle?
my son also did not talk until about 2-1/2 yrs, and is now 3. he talks a lot but we don't always understand what he is saying; i don't think it's from being tongue tied.
if you choose to proceed, my dentist friend said it is a simple procedure and i don't think there are usually complications.
i'm sure they will check your dtrs. hearing first, that is usually the 1st step when kids don't talk.
good luck!

Are you talking about the webbing that is on the bottom of the tongue connected to the floor of the mouth? My mother had it cut at 5 years, because she could not speak clearly. (She couldn't lift her tongue off the floor of her mouth.) It really is up to you. Do you think she needs it? Children all advance at different rates, and if she is a little shy of talking on schedule so what? You as a parent have the final word. At such a young age, she would not remember it at all if you go ahead with the procedure. All they did to my mom was slice the web so she could move her tongue. She remembers nothing about it. (If it's the same thing.) You really need to talk to your doc and ask what is involved first, it may be different.
